A New Home Warranty Inspection identifies any deficiencies that can be corrected under the different New Home Warranty Plans available in your area. These plans can be used if work is not completed on time or if there are construction defects to be corrected.
In Quebec, the plans apply to building contractors with licenses from the Régie du bâtiment du Québec. The contractor must also be associated with one of the following:
- The Guarantee for New Residential Buildings from the Provincial Association of Home Builders of Quebec (APCHQ)
- The Abritat Guarantee
- The Guarantee “Qualité Habitation”
The New Home Warranty Inspection must be performed by a certified professional engineer or technologist and should take place before you take full possession of your home from the licensed contractor; these terms are outlined within your new home warranty contract.
